So here it is. Three DLCs later, we find ourselves at the very end of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Jindřich of Skalice has crossed Trosecco and Kutnogorska to, among other things, help a strange artist in the first expansion or restore the lost glory of his father’s forge in the second. Now it’s time for the final adventure. And this is nothing less than the solution to the mystery on the territory of the monastery in Sedlec. And not alone.
If there was one common flaw of the previous DLCs, it was that we visited already familiar locations. Mysteria Ecclesiae corrects this very decisively. Not only for you allows you to visit a completely new part of the mapbut it locks you in for the duration of the story. This seemingly strange decision is soon explained by history. And he plays here not only the most decisive role, but essentially the only one.
Unlike Jindra’s Forge event, don’t expect any different gameplay mechanics such as stuffing or, again with a few exceptions, new gear. Jindra doesn’t go to the monastery to get rich, find a weapon, or try something new. His task is actually quite simple. Accompany Master Albik, a learned physician who seeks help from the local abbot. Compared to earlier expansions, which had a more positive atmosphere, but the third DLC plays a darker and much more down to earth note. Something that is quite consistent with the entire game. And that, looking back, I would have appreciated even more in previous expansions.
The area of the Sedlec Monastery itself is large enough to offer several interesting sites. Including the attraction in the form of the monastery church itself.. And the entire roughly 6-hour adventure makes excellent use of all the space in the new part of the map. However, yes: main quests and a surprisingly small handful of side quests. it will only last about two evenings. On the other hand, the time was well spent. And compared to Blossoms of Death or Legacy of the Forge, it’s also the best time spent. The story itself is quite strong and nicely branched this time around, the characters are interesting and there will be some solid moments and revelations that will further tighten up the local events. From this point of view there is nothing to complain about. Maybe just because of the weird pacing, especially towards the end of the story where I felt like I was still missing an extra hour of content. Everything just closes with a little bang and that’s it.
But the biggest complaints are that the entire DLC just feels like a bigger, more complex side quest. One that you’ll remember as one of the strongest parts of the game, but obviously doesn’t bring much new to the table compared to the main quests. Together Mysteria Ecclesiae will offer one new weapon, one armor and one maskincluding several new potions and books. But I don’t think it’s something that most players will enjoy. yeah she begged. At least that’s what I expected in the context of the new map. more side quests and the actions that need to be performed in general. But there just aren’t that many of them. Partially by special decision, a third of the DLC forcing players to be secretivewhich, I must say, was not the best decision for me. Especially when the guards can’t see properly even at a distance of two meters, and the whole thing seems just ridiculous. However, the general feeling of the addition is clearly emphasized by the already mentioned story, on which everything stands and falls. And fans of Jan Valta’s musical accompaniment will definitely find their way.
