The project entailed significant cuts at NetEase Games.
In May 2023, work on an MMO game based on the Warhammer universe was announced. The project was the result of collaboration between the newly created studio Jackalyptic Games and the Chinese company NetEase Games. But that was at the end of last week announced the end of development and closure of said study.
It is important to emphasize that it is within just It’s already a few days for the third gamewhich publisher NetEase Games decided to cancel. Moreover, the decision is apparently part of a relatively large restructuring that six Western studios have already paid for by shutting down this year alone. The latest victim was the Canadian team Bad Brain Game Studios, which also had to be closed.
The same fate has now befallen the Jackalyptic Games studio, whose employees are now forced to look for another job. Head of the studio Jack Emmertwho has signed games such as City of Heroes, Champions Online and Star Trek Online in the past, said that the said Warhammer MMO game was over three years in the making.
