Wargaming studio, known for its multiplayer gem World of Tanks, surprised all tank lovers by presenting to its community a new update to the game with the ambitious title World of Tanks 2.0 after many years of updates. The previous major version, marked 1.0 seven years ago, brought significant graphics and sound improvements. Version 2.0 is now much more focused on transforming offline gameplay, and Wargaming itself describes it as the most ambitious update in the game’s history. Of course, this announcement caught our attention and we couldn’t resist the invitation to visit Wargaming’s Prague branch and get a little peek under the hood of what’s cooking right now in the world of tanks.

Alexey Dyakov – senior product manager:

Our game has been around for 15 years – and maintaining it is not easy. It’s no secret that in terms of the number of players we are now in a phase of slight stagnation. We have a huge base of players – some of them still actively play, some return from time to time, and some simply follow our community through social networks or read news about World of Tanks, even if they no longer play the game itself. And it is to all of these players that we decided to reach out again to let them know that we are definitely not an “old” game. We’ve prepared the biggest update we’ve ever created. It took more than two years to develop, but it was definitely worth it – the results we achieved and the players we were able to bring back only confirm this. It’s exciting. For them, this is not a completely new game, but all the systems in the game have changed to one degree or another – sometimes slightly, sometimes significantly. This is a natural progression. We don’t let the game become stale, but try to gradually touch every part of it so that it looks fresh and meets modern standards.
