The creators of Borderlands have always known what they’re good at, and almost every time they’ve managed to polish the series’ building blocks down to the smallest detail. Whether we’re talking about rummaging through a freshly assembled arsenal, shooting completely unique weapons, or using completely exceptional abilities.
In short, Studio Gearbox Software knows how to make the loot-and-shoot genre a fun experience. And this is with a good combination of action, which is the driving force of the fourth part. But even if it managed to make the most of its flagship brand’s enticing advantages, it also failed to learn from its long-standing mistakes.
Borderlands 4 is the fourth installment in the series, but is already the tenth game in the “loot and shoot” series. And if you ask me if it’s a good role or a bad role, I’d tell you it can be both.. The game can really entertain you at some point, but at the same time irritate you greatly. Or leave them completely cold, as is the case with cooking.
The story traditionally puts you in the role Vault Huntersthat is, mercenaries looking for safes. But this time you will not go to Pandora, but to the new planet Kairos, which is inhabited by the so-called Timekeeper. However, this evil son controls the planet not only with the help of his army, but also with the help of chips embedded in every inhabitant. And you too. And coincidentally, the choice depends on you and other participants in the uprising. Timekeeper stop.
Is this original? This is wrong. Is this fun? A little. Unfortunately, the storytelling is pretty average, and while there’s enough to get you through the basic levels of the plot, I can’t say it resonated with me in any way. I appreciated some of his ideas and characters. For example Timekeeperwho is probably the closest thing to the series’ most iconic character, Handsome Jack.although it still does not exceed it. Likewise, his ability to control anyone through his built-in chip. And also the aptly named group of Rippers who decided to rip said chip out of their spine and thus go insane. Or the return of some familiar faces and something more relevant and not so cringe humor. But I can’t say that this story aroused in me any stronger emotions or a desire to learn more about it.
