Sony has released a new system update for PlayStation 5which doesn’t bring any major news, but adds some useful details and stability improvements. The update, version 25.07-12.20.00, is approximately 1.3 GB in size and is now available for download worldwide.
The main visible innovation is the ability to display the serial number of the console and connected controllers directly in the PS5 settings – regardless of whether they are connected via USB or Bluetooth. This feature is not yet implemented in the console and may be useful, for example, during service or warranty checks.
Sony has also updated the controller’s firmware. DualSense Edgewhich now has better stability and a smoother console experience. Changes have also been made to some system screens, where the manufacturer has improved clarity and readability.

- You can now check the serial number of the console and DualSense wireless controllers currently connected via USB or Bluetooth® to your console.
- For your console, go to Settings > System > System Software > About Console and check the serial number.
- For the DualSense wireless controller, go to Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings > Show Serial Number.
- We’ve updated the DualSense Edge wireless controller device software to improve stability.
- We’ve improved messages and controls on some screens.
- We have increased performance and improved system software stability.
