Ubisoft has released the long-awaited update for Team 2which adds an offline mode to the game. In a statement, Ubisoft said that “thanks to player feedback” it is now adding hybrid modewhich will allow you to play both online and offline. According to the company, this is an important step to preserve the longevity of the game, which will thus remain available “for years to come.”
The company wouldn’t directly comment on pressure from the Stop Killing Games campaign, but the connection is hard to ignore. It was the closure of the original The Crew game that sparked a huge wave of criticism and prompted fans to sign a petition against the destruction of digital games.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot spoke about all this earlier during a meeting with shareholders. He acknowledged that this is a “complex and important issue” that he is “actively pursuing.” Although he reminded that it is impossible to maintain all the servers all the time, he promised that Ubisoft will look for a long-term solution to preserve old games.
