Four years ago, a thirteen-year-old Finn would have been impossible. He escaped from the hands of a serial killer nicknamed Chmatak and managed to kill him.
He survived a horror-filled basement, from which a disconnected black telephone helped him escape. The spirits of previous victims communicated with him through him. But some things come back. And not only in a dream.
Telephone Black 2 picks up where the first film left off. Finn survived, but is having difficulty recovering from his injury. And even worse is his little sister Gwen. He has a vision that he can’t get out of his head. Lost boys, phone from another world, winter, camp, isolation.
When concrete leads begin to emerge leading to an old case of three missing children, Gwen convinces Finna to go to the former Alpine Lake holiday camp where the boys disappeared. There is a snowstorm in place. But the real threat lies elsewhere. Gwen’s dreams begin to come true. And among them there is a party figure.
Only the word is dead, the man who has already died in his sleep tells her. If you believe him, then it’s too late.
Director Scott Derrickson, behind the first cleansing or sinister film, has toughened up this time around. If the first series teetered on the brink of a psychological thriller with horror elements, the continuation will not stop. This is a much more violent film. We’re not moving. We don’t apologize. This is a pure-blooded horror film, speaks openly.
Mason Thames returns in the lead role of the surviving Finn, with Madeleine McGraw once again playing his sister Gwen. And Ethan Hawke? We won’t reveal more. But we forget that this character is a thing of the past.
“Black Phone 2” will appear in cinemas in the Czech Republic on October 16, 2025. And if the first part quickened your heart rate, be prepared.
