Ubisoft and its one of the most famous series, Assassin’s Creed, has been with us for a long time. The latest episode from feudal Japan has sparked a number of debates about the main character. But Ubisoft should have gone even further.

According to Game File’s Steven Totil, he was at one point involved in the development of Assassin’s Creed after Civil War, but ultimately abandoned it. There should have been an ex in the game slave protagonistwho returns south to meet the rise Ku Klux Klan. Development continued well and the team seemed pleased with the project. Unfortunately, sources say development has been stopped for several reasons. Key among them were the resistance to Yasuke and the political climate in the United States at the time. The working title for this episode was supposed to be Project Scarlet.

The game was in development at Ubisoft Quebec and was reportedly led by a game director. Scott Phillipswho previously worked on Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Odyssey. While the game was still in the concept stage, everyone working on the project was clearly enthusiastic.

While the topic sounds very interesting, it was the Yasuke controversy that caused Ubisoft to reconsider development and subsequently cancel it.

However, despite this message, Ubisoft has big plans for the brand. Another big part is planned for next year with the working title Hexe – this will be the darkest part of the series, dedicated to witchcraft. There should be up to nine games in development, which is a lot, so fans of the series won’t have to grind.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows recently received its first expansion, and Ubisoft is pleased with the results of the latest episode. It has appeared on the best-selling games list several times and is also the best-selling new game this year. If you haven’t played it yet, you have the option to play it on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The most expensive version is also available in Ubisoft+ Premium on PC and Xbox.
