Texas Studio Gearbox Software is now intended for its most successful series of games, which promises more weapons, more chaos and more pleasure. But does this also bring more stability and innovation to the genre that practically invented?

The first important novelty of Borderlands 4 is its landing. History will bring you to the planet Kayros, which is new, but will bring old familiar problems – a manic commander, a bunch of wild animals, even wild psychosh, simple resistance resistance, ancient storages and hunters, seeking wealth and glory. And, of course, Claptrap. Let’s pour pure wine, the story is not that Borderlands 4 should reap prices. However, after the previous episode, the rod is installed in this regard, and the script can be called functional. Definitely do not expect the quality of the second episode. History plays in the game process of the second violin and offers a template in the style of “Tell a few lieutenants before you get to a big boss and save the day.”

And the savings of the day are again issued by four additional characters. Classic archetypes of sirens and soldiers VEX and Rafa shield. Amon was added to them, waving a giant hammer and shield (inspiration from Overwatch is obvious) and explosives, mixing Harlowe. Each of the characters has three trees of abilities and can be combined between them. The ability to adapt to the assembly in accordance with their wishes is almost unlimited. I went through the game with the VEX character and gradually tried all his classes, from the broadcast of “ghostly problems with the cat” (which can get rid of great troubles) through clones, before turning into the winged queen of death on enemies Eldrich Bland. In addition, individual skills capture the attribute of the weapon that you use (kinetics, fire, electricity …), which brings an element of strategy to the game, where other elements are applied to certain types of enemies. And the last, but no less important: it is necessary to mention a lot of settings for the appearance of a character, weapons and vehicles. Each character can really be your original.

Kayros, the world of forest, deserts and ice

The main change in comparison with previous episodes is the structure of the game world. Again, the whole card is open (after a short textbook), and you have the opportunity to start a story with any part of it. Similarly, you can go to many side effects, including smaller missions, contracts, collect hidden objects or unlock new stations for quick movement. Especially the last part is very important, because the world is really large, and the overwhelming part of the missions will want you to travel between tasks. In addition to a quick journey, you will also use a new flight function or the ability to call a motorcycle (after the destination).

Nevertheless, the open world, in addition to freedom and more than the lack of recording screens, brings several diseases. I have already mentioned its simplicity and design of missions requiring long travels. To do this, you need to mention a certain emptiness of the world where you can travel for a long time without meeting something interesting. The quality of individual bioms also ranges. It can be seen that the developers took care of creating an opening forest belt. Unfortunately, mountains with a delay in the desert and snow (reminiscent of Nepal or Tibet) got the same care and look somewhat common. So there is no other choice but to hope that the developers will show their work in one of the upcoming DLCs.

Weapons, a lot of weapons

Place the game, story, characters. All this is secondary in relation to the main component of the game – shootings with enemies. And I must admit that the developers have successfully coped. In tens of hours you spend with the game, you will replace more than a million different pistols, lamp guns, knives, shotgun, missile launchers and grenades. Like the usual Borderlands, each weapon manufacturer has a specialty, and now the game also offers a combination of several parts of weapons from different companies. This allows you to attract the amount of stratosphere damage in a combination of skills, equipment and enemies for red pasta in a few seconds. The healing system and “grenade” underwent changes. Both functions are now on restoration, and thanks to equipment you can adapt them to your own image. Do you prefer immediate treatment instead of a slower (but more) over time? How do you like it. Would you prefer to throw a knife instead of grenades that penetrate other grenades after the intervention? Please.

To check the effect of your weapon, you will be extracted by local invaders. Big, small, flying, without legs. These are recently added units of orders, consisting mainly of common robots with yellow blood. If you like weapons and murder, but you make a line in the blood and intestines, you will be pleased to choose censorship blood flow on one. Unlike the poor, poor infantry – the battles of bosses in the framework of individual excerpts of history and especially storage facilities. Each of this match has a unique mechanics, which in places look at raids in fate and is undoubtedly the largest delicacy of Borderlands 4. These mechanics will not explain the Polath game, but you will find them organically during the battle. In addition, an individual combat battle can be easily completed (for a small fee), which is useful when you need to save the best weapons or experience. For this, developers definitely deserve the thumbs.

How does this work? Yes.

After the release of PC reviews and the subsequent launch, the Unreal Engine 5 question against Irlay Iron. I watched the game on the PS5 Pro, so I can’t refute or confirm the technical problems that PC players face, but even on consoles this is not all pink. The game offers a classic high -quality mode of 30 frames per second (which, frankly, in such a frantic game, may not even be, thanks) and the performance mode. He should touch the line of 60 frames per second, but he often does not reach there. I do not support him of any relevant data, but the game simply slows down. It is not terrible or necessary, but here and there you will see it.

The classic Evergreen Series Borderlands then slowly loads textures where you often look at very rude models of characters and weapons before they are fully loaded. The game also suffers from a very noticeable pseudonym. Then, completely unexplored films find films for 30 frames per second (even in power mode). I also did not find any special PS5 Pro mode in the game, so the question is whether the Sony’s stronger console is implemented or we will see it in one of the other patches (along with the repair of the technical status of the game). Positive news is the presence of CrossPlay, so you can play friends with other systems.


Verdict

Borderlands 4 brings rather the evolution of the genre that helped create a series. Filming is absolutely known and frantic, the fans of the Looter Shooter Open Worlds will become their own. The open world, however, is harmful in the form of long, not related to the case that the quality of the environment ranges between the tasks and the technical condition as a whole. As in previous episodes, developers can continue to work in order to drink this gem.
