This year, with a partner, we are spoiling, we also go to the largest game fair.

Kirby and “Forgotten Earth” is one of my favorite games for the original switch. The 3D platform, full of interesting ideas, which, thanks to simple control, really enjoys everyone, but at the same time at a later stage it can be a little more complicated. That is why I was very glad that not only technical improvements, but even the expansion of content will receive a new console. And we will look at this pair in today’s review.

Technical improvements

Let’s start with the technical side, because it concerns the whole game, and not just new content. The developers increased the resolution from 720p to 1080p in a portable device and in a comparison mode, then from the dynamic Full HD to 1440P, which is a fairly big difference. The game on the monitor or TV 4K looks much sharper and more cleaned, which you will notice both in static pictures, and, of course, even more so in the movement.

Unfortunately, some pseudonyms are preserved. It seems that even here, although this is the 2nd title from the HAL laboratory, not directly from Nintendo, the creators did not decide to realize some AA method, so the sharp edges of the stairs and other objects are still visible. This is a pity, because this will spoil the overall impression of the visual, and I really hope that this aversion to the anti-alters will change the life cycle of Switche 2. In any case, Kirby looks beautiful and Switch 2 is much better than on the previous console.

This, at least, applies to the regimen regime, in my portable stage, I think that the difference is not so noticeable. Higher resolution is more compensated by a larger display, and Switch 2 also has a LCD panel, which does not look as pleasant as the OLED model of the first switch at brightly colored levels. Of course, the update of the graphics is not bad, but you will evaluate this much more if you use Switch 2 as a classic home console.

As for Frame Rat, it is quite simple – the original game reached 30 frames per second, while an improved version is up to 60 frames per second. For both publications, he holds the frequency of the personnel rather stable (with the exception of several small downs in the DLC). Only in the original version there were some strange transitions, some menus, such as choosing levels, worked in 60 frames per second, which seemed a little inappropriate because of the rest. Switch 2 versions? Stay 60 frames per second.

The difference is excellent, although only for the game in which you practically do not control the camera is not as noticeable as Zelda. The original version was already quite responsive, in any case, the increase in the frame rat is very pleasant, you will feel it, and you will evaluate it in battles or, as a rule, more excerpts for action.

An interesting difference during loading time. At first I thought that they were almost identical at any time, because loading from the mouth to the above -ground world, an excessive world in the mouth and excessive world to the level, it takes the switch 1 and 2 for how long. Loading from the level in the lanes for some reason on Switch 2 is the only one much faster, less than 4 seconds instead of 9. I do not know what this particular transition is so faster, and the rest is the same, but no load time is too long, so it does not matter that the improvement. Although this is strange.

New levels

Let’s move on to the expansion itself, which brings 12 new levels of SO -tied stars. These are not completely new levels, because they are based on the foundations of selected levels from the basic game. Basically, however, use only the environment and largely correct the level with the help of crystals. New levels are visually more diverse and generally better. The developers have even reached the environment from the original game, and for the needs of new levels, they adjusted some assets to the best form of quality. Therefore, when you go through the level, you really feel that you are playing something, which could be impossible on Switch 1.

And I should not forget the fantastic soundtrack that shone here again. The original was magnificent, but here the composers began significant experiments with various genres and relatively quiet, so relaxed music can become urgent music, even a little restless. This is absolutely excellent accompaniment for individual songs that I return even after completion.

Nevertheless, this is not just an audiovisual, and the extension also brings news in the gameplay. On the one hand, this is a break of the aforementioned crystals that will show your journey, but, first of all, all three new elements for the mode of the mouth, that is, things in which Kirbi can translate: a spring jumping spring, equipment for attaching walls and signs for descent. All three are very interesting and used to avoid the game, but at the same time they are fully used.

Moreover, all new levels are usually harder than almost in the original game. Although the last world in the basic game was able to torment you a lot, DLC provides a rather complicated level from the point of view of the gameplay, where you will have to monitor enemies and platforms. This is not quite crazy, but be sure to get ready for the fact that this is no longer such a walk in the pink garden. But since you will probably play expansion only after the basic game is completed, I think this is good.

All possible pitfalls and various types of enemies will force you to constantly change your ability to always use the one that will give you the biggest advantage. This is not for strength, alternation is very natural from the variety and diversification of the gameplay, so I had no problems with it at all, on the contrary. Especially at levels that can be a little longer than usual. In any case, there are a lot of fun and, of course, the secrets that can be smartly hidden.

The only thing that was somewhat tired of me was Miniboss, which repeated at the level. On the one hand, you are always closed to them in a very small arena, which is practically no different, and on the other hand, their attacks remain the same. I certainly appreciated more variability here, but nothing is just terrible. A real duel is waiting for you only in the final, which is great, but surprisingly complicated. But I can’t tell you anymore, and I don’t want to.

In general, a combination of an improved version and expanding content seems to me an excellent addition to an excellent game. The technical update has its own gaps (pseudonym …), but otherwise it was number one, and at least in the regime mode, the difference is to learn a lot. The expansion itself will bring you a few hours of additional fun, which contains very diverse and rather demanding levels, which is nice to pass. Kirby and “Forgotten Lands” are one of those games that simply play a smile on your face, and DLC is no exception. 20 euros for this additional package and the Switch 2 version is definitely worth it.

Verdict

The new version of the fun platform with Kirby is based on excellent funds and offers as pleasant technical improvements that you will value, especially during the game on a large monitor or TV, as well as a solid part of additional content. New levels can be visually more diverse and more complex than the basic game, bringing a few more hours of pleasure, which will again cause a smile on your face.
