Ubisoft has officially announced Project Q, a “teamfight arena” development game that would be an Overwatch and Fortnite-like rival. The game, which was leaked earlier this week, had a gameplay leak earlier today, leading to a seemingly unplanned announcement.
We don’t know anything about the game at this time, but Ubisoft has signed up for Project Q gameplay test recordings on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, suggesting the game is on at least those. five platforms. You can sign up for these playtests here.
Additionally, Ubisoft unveiled the project’s official logo and the first concept image showing three characters fighting in a large park in the middle of a city. One character swings a shovel while another has an energy drink can he apparently slips into. The other is sitting on a bench. Finally, a fourth character is visible facing a river.
The game, which was leaked for gameplay, features a surprisingly similar experience to Fortnite, with its abilities, UI, character designs, and environment. However, from this first look, it seems less dependent on finding items in the world and focusing more on character skills. It also appears to have objective game modes rather than just a battle royale game.
So we heard you heard… 🤷
Introducing the codenamed “Project Q”, a team battle arena that allows players to truly experience it! The game is in early development and we will continue to test it, so for now you can only register for future tests: https://t.co/TMRKwiUzbJ pic.twitter.com/hZ40OkPdum

This is apparently Ubisoft’s next attempt to create a live multiplayer game that will appeal to audiences after Hyper Scape and others failed to capture long-term player attention. Project Q has a chance to succeed where those games fail, but it all depends on how it’s played.
