If you want the best in a reasonable diagonal.
The beginning of OLED technology has changed the market in the upper class segment. The best panels of the LCD -display and VA are in decline, and if you want to buy the best piece, you usually choose between OLED and Minined. Both are ideally with a quantum point. The truth is that in both cases you get a really excellent monitor that offers a number of best properties. More than two years ago, I reached for the then almost uncompromising mini -monitor from Samsung. OLED began to expand, its price was high, and the choice was small. When Samsung invited me to try my news for several weeks, Odyssey G81SF, 27-inch QD-L with the latest version of the rope, I could not resist.
At first glance, the monitor offers beautiful contrasting and true colors.
To introduce the tested part, the Samsung Odyssey G81SF belongs to the Odyssey OLED G8 family and is offered to diagonals 27 and 32 inches. For testing, I received a smaller 27 -inch part with UHD resolution and update speed of 240 Hz. And at first glance he impressed.
Thin and elegant
Already when unpacking the monitor, I praised the side feature of Oled Technology. You can know this on TV, this is not displayed on mobile phones. This is a small thickness that is associated with illumination, but also adapted cooling. Compared to my old part, which is still curved, Odyssey Oled G8 is thin and very elegant. At the narrowest point, it has only 3.9 mm, but mainly in the most rigid, does not reach much larger size. The display of the display without a pedestal and legs is only 3.8 kg. The package includes power cord, USB upstream, DisplayPort and HDMI cables.
The dimensions are 27 -inch Tested Piece.
The back is decorated with a backlight that you can configure. If you put the monitor on the wall, it will light up and create good environmental lighting. In general, I can say that if I saw this monitor somewhere at the reception, I would not think that this is a purebred gaming equipment. It also writes a very minimalist position. When unpacking, you click on the monitor back. The lower part of the base can also be installed without tools. It is pentagonal with a height of 3 mm and completely flat. You can place objects and actually do not take up space.
Lighting of the nucleus+ backlight+
The stand allows you to lean forward, backward, adjusting the height and turn, that is, the rotation of the monitor in height. He satisfied all my expectations, and I did not need to reach the shoulder of the weight that I have at hand, and the monitor is compatible with it.
Movement options.
The cable binding is solved here only by a simple loop near the base. But I appreciate the set of connectors that are not too hidden and very easy to get to the back of the main lighting+ circle with backlight.
The exact distribution of connectors.
The connectors are easily available.
In the connectors you will find two HDMI 2.1, two dispersed 1.4, in both cases with support for HDCP 2.2, three USB 3.2 GEN 1, one of which is located upstream to the computer. On the contrary, there is no USB-C with food delivery and DP, so I should have one unfortunate cable when connecting.
Oling
Already at the first bend it is clear that the UHD resolution at 27 inches brings really beautiful softness. In particular, 166 pixels per square inch. For a larger 32 -inch piece, this is 139 ppi. The high pixel density can be recognized specifically for the text and icons. Windows scaling has improved in recent years, so in this regard it does not bring any shortcomings of the high PPI.
On the other hand, the high pixel density eliminates the problem of some OLED models when the text areas were more ugly, made of another arrangement of pixels in the grid.
Samsung at Odyssey Oled G8 G81SF unfolded a panel with a slightly higher brightness of 260 threads. This is higher than average to the level of OLED technologies. If you compare this value with minilles and classic LCDs -parts with LED backlight, OLED loses a little here. Nevertheless, this is often, and Samsung compensates at least a free decoration. This is almost a matte surface with a minimum of reflections. I had a monitor in the room, turning to the window where the daylight was indirectly shining, and I did not notice the problem of brightness. According to Samsung, Glare Free is much more effective than classical opposition. The surface is uneven on a microscopic basis and, therefore, less reflects light.
The worst scenario is a monitor with a dark screen during the day, built opposite the window, but is still perfectly read without special reflections.
Now we are talking about the SDR mode. But the monitor fully supports HDR 10+, where spells begin. The monitor offers Displayhdr True Black 400, and, of course, the absolute black looks very great. OLED technology can completely turn off the backlight of black pixels, and the contrast is even better than mini – but basically there are no light objects on the black background.
In fact, the transition between light and dark places is even more noticeable. Comparison with Miniov.
Color rendering is already magnificent without any setting. Colors look alive, but not artificially or transparent. It is difficult to show in the photographs. In general, I felt as if I were looking at a very detailed picture instead of a monitor. This was due to the combination of high PPI and a truly matte surface without reflections. But mainly the fidelity of the entire OLED panel.
Samsung takes care of OLED as part of OLED SAFEGUARD+. This again includes a dynamic cooling system with heat pipes. This is not known for the thickness of the monitor.
Among the most restored functions, OLED Care includes general cooling, the detection of the logo and strip and the screensaver. You will notice the last most. The depositor will reduce the brightness of the monitor if nothing happens. You can still see this, it is clearly darker. The monitor will not wake up really small movements, such as moving the cursor or jumping a notification on the lower panel. Even a miniature movement through the entire window of any application, but immediately the monitor woke up.
In general, the list of technologies that protect the burning of OLED panels has become sufficient, and I evaluate automatic dimming in particular. The monitor has never been unwilling to be unwanted, and probably this will be a function that will have the greatest impact on the service life.
The picture that you will like
But now on the display and impressions of use. When I say that I fell in love with Odyssey Oled G8, along with a large best minilized work that I chose myself, I will probably do a lot. Oled Technology is just an absolute peak, and nothing can be compared in a number of scripts.
HDR content, comparison with minilad
When using a monitor in the SDR mode, the colors are perfectly full and distinctive, but not surrogated or clearly inaccurate. In the case of HDR OLED, it erases some diseases of the windows. If you once included HDR in Windows, you probably noticed that everything is outside the video, and some applications have disappeared. This is not a mistake on your device, Microsoft simply introduces HDR into its operating system. But the OLED panel disappears this problem, and this was the first monitor where I could have HDR almost without a break. The SDR content just looked good.
Windows Desktop, comparison with minined.
In games, the monitor and HDR have completely succeeded. In Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, shadows were much deeper. Not only darker, but also more clearly appreciated. The darker color palette just went to great depths. Even with minilad compared.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows in HDR – Minileed
At the same time, HDR has not lost color or contrast. I had both monitors calibrated in the brightness of the game and the built -in program in Windows. I do not have a calibration probe, so I can’t measure the color deviation. But the colors look true from the eyes and the formation of content.

The main pleasure ends with a combination of high pixel density and update speed of 240 Hz. For smoothness, we have Freesync Premium for support that I did not use with Nvidia Graphics. G-Sync compatibility is absent in this model, what a pity.
Even on Super RTX 4080 it was not easy to pull out FPS to the values of about two hundred. in native resolution. You often cannot avoid details even in competent games, such as League of Legends or Counter-Strike, if you want to get 240 frames per second. Of course, this is worse for more demanding games. The solution may consist in creating several images using AI in the RTX 50 series. In the end, the high -class monitor focuses on these users after new and expensive equipment.
The answer of the screen is absolutely smooth. Ghosts practically do not exist, the response of the Samsung Valley 0.03 ms (GTG), which is practically the least common value in the market.
Games
Samsung also places the Tizen operating system in some of the best monitors. You can enjoy smart functions such as TV, AI image, image and so on. Such monitors work completely self -sufficient even without a computer, which you appreciate if fans of the game machine monitor the monitoring of Netflix. You will not find this in a tested work that shame. I probably lacked a very practical remote control. The monitor controls the joystick, which can be found on the back of the middle next to the connectors. The speakers are also absent, but most players will not mind.
Samsung Odyssey Oled G8 G81SF is aimed at players who include a computer or console and do not want to solve intelligent functions, additional applications, and so on. This is a pity from a very successful design that includes metal elements, minimalist frames and thin illumination.
The main feature of the Samsung Odyssey G8
The price of the tested work is 34 990 CZK, which is not enough. Last year’s 32 -inch piece with an intellectual set and the rest of the same resolution, updating and decoration can become even just below 30 thousand crowns.
ASUS offers ROG SWIFT OLED PG27UCDM for 30 990 CZK with 4K 240 Hz 27 -inch. It is also cheaper.
Even at a price of about 35,000 people, I would say that the Samsung Odyssey Oled G8 will pay off if this product existed in its bubble without competition. He offers the best picture, which I once saw on a game monitor. The reduction of intellectual functions and models exceeding the price with the same and large diagonals are complicated by recommendations for the purchase. On the other hand, Samsung would be subjectively most in defense of the OLED panel, because they have the most experience. The promise of reliability and protection, thus, plays for the good of Samsung. Thus, the choice depends on you, and if you reach any OLED monitor, you certainly will not regret it.
