A number of Radeon RX 9000 graphic cards, which arrived a few days ago, also brought with it a new version of high -performance technology in the FSR 4 form. This is a huge leap compared to FSR 3.1, as we wrote in an earlier article. Now, however, thanks to digital foundry, we learned that the fourth version of FSR, which first uses machine learning, is not only thanks to AMD.

Richard Lidbetter turned to the chief architect of the PS4 and PS5 console Mark Cherni, which confirmed for DF that FSR 4 is the first result of the announced amethyst, which is a close cooperation between AMD and Sony.

Until now, FSR 4 is available only on RX 9000 maps, since it relies on the acceleration of FP8, which is not old cards. Nevertheless, Cerny said that PS5 Pro owners can count on a new version of the PSSR increase, which should be based on FSR 4.

This will be mainly a rethinking of this technology, on which the ink team is already working, but it will take some time. This means that they will arrive next year, while this year developers and players will have to agree to the original PSSR.

In any case, not just the scaling on which the amethyst project is focused. Cherni previously indicated that he wanted to focus on machine training and trace of rays, and the recent technical demonstration from AMD shows the first such nervous technologies, including dening similar to Nvidia (Ray Reconstruction). But when these technologies are released, we still do not know.
