Review Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3: For games first of all

Lenovo on CES introduced a new generation of the tablet. Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is supplied with increased performance, interesting improvements and two.

Although Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 shifts higher, it also makes a decision that I do not go to mind. One of the “fashionable” changes is the absence of a charger in a package, which, unfortunately, is becoming an increasingly common standard. At the same time, the addition of a charger to the package will probably not increase the price of the tablet and will not bring significant savings in space, especially when the place for a charger in the box is filled only with a paper insert. In addition, the same model sold in the United States has a 65 watts charger in a bag. I understand that most people already own the charger at home, and many consider it to be granted. Personally, however, I still consider it unpleasant when it is not attached to new devices with fast charging adapters.

Another, and much more serious changes for me are the removal of the SD card slot. From this, you depend on the throughput that you choose when buying, that is, 256 GB without the possibility of further expansion. Yes, it is possible to connect an external disc through a quick USB-C (10 Gb/s), but I do not consider it too practical. I think that for a tablet of this type – this is not just a device for surfing on the Internet. If you plan to download games that can easily take more than 10 GB, you do not want to place them on an external device. If you shoot 4K video, the container will also disappear quickly. And from my own experience – I write down films on a tablet for children. With a beautiful 2.5K -display with HDR, such files are mainly more than 30 GB. And although my daughter is careful, I would not believe that she has a tablet with an external disk attached on her knees. In the best case, he disconnects him, worse … Well, over the years I have seen quite broken cables and broken connectors. The rest of the package seems good to me. Lenovo adds a protective glass with a practical applicator. The attached body of Folio is not only practical, but also stylish and functional. Magningly attached display protection can be folded into a practical stand. There is also a relatively long USB-C 2.0 cable.

In addition, the tablet has two USB-C ports, which provides greater flexibility. However, even in 2025, one of these ports is only the USB 2.0 standard at a maximum speed of 480 Mbps, the other with a speed of 10 GB/s also supports the external monitor. Under the Bonnet Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is currently considered a very good gaming processor for mobile devices. This provides excellent performance and excellent response even in demanding tasks, such as playing modern games or video editing. The processor complements 12 GB of fast memory of LPDDR5X with a frequency of 8533 MHz, which provides smooth multitasking and quick application loading. The storage space consists of 256 GB of memory UFS 4.0 – unfortunately, as already mentioned, without the possibility of expansion.

The tablet displays offers a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, a frequency up to 165 Hz and support for the Dolby Vision, reaches 500 threads with its luminosity, so do not expect a large game in the sun. Compared to the previous model, the recovery frequency settings are slightly overloaded – the user cannot choose the frequency (for example, 120 Hz or 144 Hz), only 60 Hz modes, a maximum of 165 Hz or intelligent mode, which automatically selects the frequency depending on whether there are whether there are whether You, for example, play or in the system. The sound is responsible for a couple of speakers and support for Dolby Atmos, which cares about pleasant and spatial experience. The connection is provided by Wi -fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 with a smart connection and mating.

And performance has a distribution device. And in the tests that Antutu obviously reached almost 2 million, and Geegbench on one Core 2000 and Multi Core almost 7000. When it comes to testing in tablets and will not allow you to fall below 60 frames per second.

Call of Duty: Warzone on maximum details, since unlocked FPS steadily worked in the range of 65-75 frames per second. The game was incredibly smooth, and everything was downloaded almost immediately – without long wait, just a smooth action and a match for the match. When I switched to the tank, he switched to the world of tanks, the FPS still held a convenient 60. Unfortunately, many games still do not have an unlocked amount of FP, so the full potential of this device remains unused. However, playing Mortal Kombat, the tablet really shone – up to 120 frames per second brought incredibly lively and smooth experience when every blow or movement looked fantastic on the display.

Another name that I tested on the tablet was Fortnite – a game available on various platforms. Fortnite allows you to play up to 90 frames per second, which significantly contributes to smooth experience. When setting up the maximum graphic part, the image quality is acceptable, but certain compromises for mobile devices remain noticeable. In less demanding situations, tablets steadily contain 90 frames per second, which allows you to play very smoothly. In more demanding moments, for example, in vast battles or graphically intense scenes, FPS sometimes drops to 60, and exclusively up to 40. Since Fortnite is one of the most demanding games for mobile devices, this tablet performance is very impressive. Even during the battle with Godzila, the device managed to support 90 frames per second, which raised the game experience to a large level.

In general, the game for the game is excellent for both mobile games and for those who use cloud or streaming services. When you launch the game, you can view the Legion space, which allows you to configure the productivity of the device, draw up a controller and thin settings of the game. Thanks to the large 6550 mAh battery can cope with a few hours of intense games, while consumption is about 15-20 % per hour. With longer game sessions, I noticed that the tablet was noticeably warmed up. Nevertheless, thanks to the internal arrangement of the components, heat is concentrated outside the usual places where you hold the tablet during the game. Since I played most of my time with the driver, and the tablet was laid on the table, there was no anxious warming. In addition, Lenovo, due to the improvement of the cooler vapor chamber, managed to maintain a temperature of about 40 ° C. Even after a long game, I did not notice a significant decrease in performance – for example, 3DMark stress tests showed a decrease in power after the first cycle by less than 10 %. Then the temperature stabilized at 40 ° C, and the power remained stable. Testing was carried out with a tablet in a protective cover, which is skillfully designed to disperse heat through ventilation holes.

If you do not plan to use the tablet only for playing games, but also for easier productive work, I was very pleased with the function of transition to the PC mode. After connecting the keyboard and mice tablets, it allows you to perform the main office tasks similar to a regular computer. Android applications remain some limits, but today’s opportunities can be conveniently controlled through a web browser. The tablet also supports DisplayPort through one of the USB-C, but, unfortunately, I could not get a function on the USB-C Dock, and I now had no other docking stations. Nevertheless, the tablet should easily control the screen exchange on a larger monitor, which can make work on this device even more pleasant.

When I thought there was nothing more to test, and began to clean the tablet before sending back, I noticed the camera. I thought someone might want to use them for a photo shoot. I immediately presented tourists on the Charles bridge with large pills in my hands when they photograph the monuments. To get a complete review, I decided to try it. Therefore, I took our dog in the park to stand with the model – and my expectations were confirmed.

Tablets with their dimensions, as a rule, are not an ideal device for a photo shoot, which is confirmed by this model. The quality of the photograph with 13 mpx chambers remains quite average, especially at a time when most manufacturers switch to sensors of 50 mPX and higher. Lenovo is trying to compensate for low resolution after post -cutting, which often looks unnatural. The camera settings do not have the opportunity to edit, and the video is limited to 30 frames per second in three resolutions – 720p, 1080p and 4K – unfortunately, without what the image of the image. From the sizes of the device, it is difficult to provide stable shots, and the lack of stabilization worsens this problem. In the video, the lack of smoothness becomes more obvious, and the device in this area cannot fully use its powerful chip. Even with lower resolutions, the lack of image stabilization is noticeable, which ultimately does not create the impression that you are holding the upper devices.

In general, I have mixed feelings from this device. On the one hand, I must admit that this is a good piece – a high -quality display with fresh flowers and HDR support, a great sound suitable for watching films on the road, the best performances and modern games and continuous autonomous work. On the other hand, there are some restrictions such as the middle camera (although, let’s look in the eyes of the truth, few use a tablet for a photo shoot), the absence of a charger in packaging or it is impossible to expand the repository. Looking at the whole, however, it is clear where Lenovo retained and where he invested in the use of advanced technologies. The initial success in the United States, where this model was sold within 48 hours after launch, shows that a similar device was absent in the market, although local customers had a 65 watts charger in a bag. If you are looking for an alternative to Android for the iPad mini, Lenovo is a firm candidate.
