Over the years, I have gradually become accustomed to the processing of sports games. On the one hand, I feel sorry for the titles that have fallen into an endless spiral of abuse from the players, that this is just an update of the compositions, but otherwise it is essentially the same thing over and over again. Of course they are right, but then again what something new that you want to invent in sportswhen football remains football or hockey or hockey or baseball as it is today, it will always be the same, because you just won’t change the rules of that sport. On the other hand, it raises the question of whether studios should publish the same game every year under different numbers. MLB Show held annually first in a series of virtual sports and from my personal point of view, one of the most successful games you can play. Perhaps this year MLB the Show 22 disappointed me even more. I can’t say that I was expecting some changes, because last year was a turning point in many respects thanks to the new generation of consoles, but what I get almost identical game, I didn’t expect it either.
Baseball is definitely not the most popular sport in our region, and the same can be said for the MLB series, which was exclusive to PlayStation until last year. However, last year this baseball series expanded beyond Sony’s console for the first time. At the same time, last year it was the first part of a new generation of consoles, with which the developers from San Diego coped more than adequately. However, the beginning of repeating the same thing every year was not so random, in fact, the year MLB 22 really went through a small number of changes. And the more difficult it was to figure out how to capture the virtual review of baseball this year. Everything I said or wrote about last year in my review is still valid.
It’s still about very difficult game, which will please veterans with its complexity, and for beginners, on the contrary, one button may be enough to play the entire match. You can still customize the gameplay the way you want. So change the way you serve, hit, and a bunch of other essentials so you enjoy the game, but at the same time, keep a certain challenge. Of course, the fact is that the more difficult the way you choose, the less likely you are to play, and if you do it right, it will bring much better results. This great system that rewards you great for your improvement effortsbut will also make the game more accessible to a wider range of players.
MLB continues to support a large number of different modes, whether it’s building your own team and collecting player cards, quick matches, or a classic career where you create your own player. Then you will play one match after another. Even the graphics have not undergone visible changes, but in the final it should not bother you at all, because even in today’s conditions the graphical shell looks more than good. Although some models of lesser-known players would still deserve a little more attention.
At the same time, challenges were saved, where, if you really believe, you can try to play for real prices with player signatures. Even the large difficulty range hasn’t changed, so it’s still true that even here you can really choose what kind of difficulty you want to face in MLB.
What else I can personally praise MLB the Show for is the mode Diamond dynasty. This is exactly the mode where you create your own team, in which you then look for new players by opening packages. Yes, MLB the Show also contains microtransactions that allow you to buy players for your team with real money. But unlike other sports games, I don’t feel like I’m being forced to do it here, or feel weaker just because I refused to put another batch of my money into the game. There are many ways to get players, cards and level up in MLB. Also, you can build from the start pretty decent team silver and gold players.
Definitely a welcome change for Diamond Dynasty as well mini seasonal mode. Here you will face your team against seven other AI-controlled teams in a total of 28 matches that will end in a mini-playoff.
In addition, we have added cooperation modewhere you can team up with friends or random people online, two or three. Then you alternate between hitting and throwing each inning. It’s nice not to focus on the entire functioning of the team, but always only on the defensive or offensive element of the game. The only pity is that the substitution is obligatory, so it is impossible to put it in such a way that one player just hits the whole match, and the other only serves. Such a change would also be to the liking of many people. Another disadvantage, if you have enough friends, can be that for many you are looking for opponents randomly, so if there are more of you, you cannot play against each other in teams.
