The new installment in the popular DOOM first-person shooter series from id Software was unveiled today as part of the Xbox presentation and revealed not only new details, but also a release date, which we covered in a separate article. However, in addition to this, Bethesda has published hardware requirements for PC players, which are also very interesting.

DOOM: Dark Ages you will need a video card with hardware support for ray tracing. Therefore, you need to own it to run the game. at least a GeForce RTX 20 series card from Nvidia, Radeon RX 6000 from AMD or Arc A from Intel. This is the same situation as Indiana Jones and the Big Circle, which also required ray tracing support and uses the same engine. And just like Indy, the new DOOM will offer path tracing, but you’ll need a very powerful graphics card to do it.

The second important requirement is storage. You need to prepare approximately 100 GB free spacebut it has to be fast NVMe SSDwhich is also mentioned in the minimum requirements. It is likely that the game will also run on a SATA SSD, but stuttering may occur. Officially, the developers do not guarantee support.

Otherwise, however, the requirements are not high. As a processor, even at the maximum setting of 60 FPS, an eight-core processor from a few years ago should be sufficient. For RAM, a minimum of 16 GB is sufficient, and for higher settings and resolutions 32 GB is specified.

Like minimum video card recommended by the creators RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600which can be played at 1080p resolution on low settings. To preset High Definition 1440p you should already have RTX 3080 or RX 6800 and further 4K Ultra recommended by Bethesda RTX 4080 or RX 7900 XT. It should be emphasized that in all cases native resolutiontherefore, with the help of upscaling, you can run the game in 4K even on weaker cards.

In addition to PC, DOOM: The Dark Ages will also be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will arrive on May 15 this year.
