Ubisoft is going through the worst period in its history. Last year, the French company relied on sales Star Wars Outlaws. But they fell far short of expectations. In addition, the action-adventure game from the creators of The Division sold worse than its predecessor. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from Electronic Arts.
According to reports, Star Wars Outlaws was the 47th best-selling game in Europe in 2024. In contrast, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still performed very well a year after its release, helped by its 2024 expansion for the older PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
While Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had a full year to collect sales, Outlaws didn’t release until August 2024, which may have partially contributed to its weaker results. However, it is clear that Ubisoft expected much more from their game in the popular Star Wars universe.
Journalist Christopher Dring of VGC stated in his analysis that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor clearly outsold Star Wars: Outlaws in 2024. Keep in mind, in both cases we’re only talking about what both games sold in 2024. What’s even more surprising is that Jedi: Survivor had the biggest sales of 2023.
Ubisoft previously confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws did not perform as expected. But, apparently, everything is very bad, and fixing the game, releasing the first story expansion and releasing the game on Steam did not help.
