Sony is not changing its strategy and continues to demand an account PlayStation Network (PSN) for single-player ports of its computer games. The latest victim of this policy is The Last of Us Update Part 2″which will appear on Steam and Epic Games Store in April.
While this is a purely story-based game with no multiplayer features, players will need to create (or use an existing) PSN account to continue Joel and Ellie’s emotional journey. PSN’s announcement was confirmed on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The PSN account requirement has caused controversy in the past, such as when the same requirement was announced for a game. Helldivers 2. There, Sony eventually caved to pressure from gamers. However, for new PC ports such as The Last of Us Part 2 or Until Dawn, the company apparently insists on such a policy.
Players criticize the need for PSN due to the fact that Sony’s network is not supported everywhere. The advantage is the obvious effort of the Japanese company. Bring PC players into the PSN ecosystem. A dissatisfied part of players is trying to get around this with modifications.
