The detective-adventure game Sherlock Holmes Chapter One was released on PC and current consoles in November last year. However, the developers from the Ukrainian studio Frogwares promised from the very beginning that they were also working on versions for the old generation, that is, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Initially, the ports were supposed to arrive last year, then they were postponed to the first quarter of this year, but even then we did not wait. Yesterday, the authors commented on the situation and brought one good, but also one bad news.
PS4 owners can rejoice as the new Sherlock is coming April 28. But players on Xbox One are not so happy anymore, this version was postponed indefinitely.
The reasons for Frogwares are laid out in an extensive Twitter statement, but they can be summarized quite simply. In the past few months, we’ve put a lot of effort into getting the most out of older consoles. However, the ongoing war in Ukraine, for which most employees now have completely different concerns, has drawn attention to them. While the developers were able to complete and release the PS4 version, they simply didn’t have the resources to complete the Xbox One conversion.
