The year has ended again, so there’s nothing left to do but look back. It may not have been the best year for many, but there were games we didn’t expect to get. Literally. So today we’re looking at the editor’s selection of 2024 games that weren’t necessarily the best, but definitely surprised us.

I may be cheating a little now because I didn’t know much about other games due to developing my own game. But every now and then I have time to try something I missed, like the Steam Deck. And the adventure game Slay the Princess was one of those games. The Pristine Cut is an expansion, or patch if you will, that adds a number of new endings, dialogue, animations, and art to this fully dubbed horror adventure story.. This version just came out this year, so I guess it made the chart!
This game is really about one thing: your task is to destroy/kill/disarm the princess. A seemingly innocent girl. Or this: maybe she really is innocent! You just have to find out. At the same time The gameplay itself is a combination of clicker adventure, Deathloop, 12 Minutes, and sometimes even The Stanley Parable.. However, everything is wrapped up in an interesting thriller, which with its mysterious story – if you really decide to dive into it – will definitely entertain you for more than one evening. I don’t usually create visual novels… however, this one has a special place in my video game heart. What do you think? Can you kill the princess? And if so, can you live with the consequences?
