The title we now know as one of the best horror films of 2024 became an expected flop just a few months ago. Yes, his statement as such was accompanied by slight optimism – the Bloober team, which has experience working with horror, at least in walking simulators, was responsible for the remake. But it took a long time for players to get more information after the announcement, and when they did, they weren’t thrilled with it.
The demos were very action-packed, despite Bloober’s reputation as a studio that tends to shy away from action. In addition, fans did not like the large-scale changes compared to the original, namely the change in camera. Add to all this the deplorable state of the Silent Hill series as such, which was directly asking for a good game, but did not receive it.
In short, no one believed in a remake of the second Silent Hill, and the developers had no choice but to ask the fans to give them a chance. Then, when the first reviews began to appear, it was hard to believe that the game was getting all nines and eights. But it’s true, Silent Hill 2 Remake is an intense psychological horror that, despite some shortcomings, is one of the strongest impressions of the past year in its genre. Next time we’ll be kinder to the Bloober team.
