The best games of this year in your opinion.

Just before Christmas, I got my hands on the Turtle Beach products: the Vulcan II keyboard, Kone XP Air mouse, and Stealth 700 Gen 3 headphones. When I plugged them in, I was greeted with a lighting effect that instantly brought out Christmas. the atmosphere in my room.

Keyboard Vulcan II

In 2019, Turtle Beach acquired German peripheral manufacturer Roccat. Thanks to this, keyboards and mice of German quality have been combined with headphones and audio equipment. This year, the brand introduced the second generation Vulcan keyboard with mechanical switches. Titan II red. This model continues the success of the previous version and stands out, in particular, for its design – low-profile keys with protruding switches, which are emphasized by RGB lighting, bright and sometimes even blinding.

Titan II red switches are linear, with a frequency of 1000 Hz (sampling rate). Surprisingly, they require a little more force to press than I’m used to, but after a few minutes it stopped bothering me. The keys have a pleasant sound, are quiet and provide precise response. A small detail that took me a little longer to get used to is the low keys: although they should be the same, they seem to be positioned a little further apart. Therefore, when writing texts, my finger sometimes slips on the secondary key, which led to many typos, not only in this article. But during the game I had no problems with this – pressing the classic WASD was no problem. Despite their low profile, the keys are firmly attached to the switches, have a standard mounting size and are therefore easily replaced with other keys.

In terms of functionality, there are now common features such as anti-ghosting or the ability to remap keys. Using the Software Swarm of turtles on the beach II you can add a second function to the keys, between which the Easy-Switch key switches[+] (FN+CAPS). The activation of this “second layer” is signaled by an LED indicator on the keyboard. I could imagine this feature in, for example, strategy games or other games where the player needs different key configurations. However, in practice I didn’t really use this; you can match other keys and macros. The Swarm app already has macros for a large number of games, but often they only contain actions that you can already activate with regular keys. And so you still have to create macros yourself. However, I appreciate the ability to save up to five profiles directly on the keyboard and manage others via software, including automatically switching profiles based on the active app.

I welcomed the ability to enable the game mod using the FN+WIN hotkey. Disables the Windows key (and possibly something else, but I haven’t noticed it). By the way, the disabled Windows key definitely came in handy, as I sometimes accidentally pressed it during intense gaming events.

But what must be recognized is that RGB backlight the keyboard and mouse are really good. Not only can you set your own color for each individual key, but there are also very well-designed presets available. I was most interested in the profile IMOwhere it actively responds to your actions – smoothly or dynamically changing colors depending on how quickly you press the keys or mouse buttons. If you pause for a moment, the system will return to a smooth, non-distracting color transition. In addition, there are other quite funny effects, such as “snake” or “heartbeat”. It’s a shame that these fun effects can’t be activated like in sleep mode if I don’t use the keyboard for a long time.

Kone XP Air Mouse

Perhaps the mouse interested me even more than the keyboard itself. In addition to excellent RGB backlighting and a high-quality optical sensor with sensitivity up to 19,000 dpi it also offers three different connection methods: via braided cable, 2.4GHz receiver, or Bluetooth. Like the keyboard, it supports Easy-Shift, which allows the 10 programmable buttons to instantly switch to a different configuration. If we also add a lateral tilt wheel, you get up to 29 different inputs – A great feature for gamers who want maximum customization options.

The battery meets the stated specifications. endurance up to 100 hourswhich, unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to fully test. The package includes a practical charging station, which I think is a great solution – after the end of the session, you just put the mouse down and it charges.

Certification is also worth considering. NVIDIA Reflex to measure the response of the entire computer. If you have a compatible monitor and graphics card, you can fine-tune the game’s settings from mouse click to frame display on screen.

Headphones Stealth 700 Gen 3

The last product tested were headphones. Stealth 700 third generation. The sound and microphone quality is excellent, as is the overall design. In the package you will find two receivers – one for Xbox, the other for PC and other devices. But problems arose when installing the Swarm software. Even on the third attempt, the update did not go smoothly, and although the headphones worked, it was not possible to get into the settings.

Luckily, the next day the software was up and running and I was able to tweak various settings, including a “super hearing” feature to improve sound in games. Like a mouse and keyboard, multiple profiles can be saved directly to the headphones, or you can customize the Mode button and wheel to balance audio between game and chat. An interesting feature is also the ability to map some of the headphone’s functions to keyboard shortcuts, which improves usability.

If I had one complaint, it would be the heavier weight of the headphones. The headset is highly customizable, but in my opinion it could use better padding – after a while you can feel the hard plastic underneath the piece of memory foam. Some people won’t mind more weight, but I would definitely work on the padding.

In conclusion

If you’re looking for solid gaming peripherals, I can definitely recommend the Vulcan II keyboard and Kone XP Air mouse. They offer cool features, great performance, and look truly impressive. On the contrary, I was unfortunately not impressed with the headphones due to their weight. More weight may suit some people, but I’m not used to it. The overall impression is somewhat spoiled by the Swarm software, which seems out of tune in places. However, when combined with Roccat technology, the Turtle Beach brand has significant potential to attract a wide range of players.
