Improved Quake gets new maps for Horde mode

At the end of last year, an extended version of the classic shooter was released. Earthquake free enriched Horde mode, for which the creators of the new parts of the Wolfenstein series from the MachineGames studio are responsible.. This brand new mode, which you would look for in id Software’s original version of the game, originally featured four different maps. However, they have recently been joined three more cards that are available again for free.

The maps called Relic, The Trial and The Tower are part of the third update and are once again the responsibility of the developers at MachineGames, who have never hidden the popularity of the Quake series. After all, the studio also employs developers who began developing the game thanks to the modding of the 1996 original. Again, it is true that the maps are varied enough to support multiple difficulty levels and here and there you can find some secret place. The essence of the game mode has also not changed, so players once again face an endless number of waves of enemies. Sometimes you can get a silver key to unlock places that offer better weapons, and at some point there will always be a boss wave that you will get a gold key for. This change can be used to unlock the exit so you can successfully complete the game at any time if you don’t want to resist further waves of enemies.

However, the update brings more than new maps for Horde mode. Primarily accessibility options have been significantly expanded, which include various settings for displaying text and elements of the HUD or main menu. There’s even the ability to listen to text chat messages in multiplayer thanks to a synthesized voice. The creators also took care of improving spawns, more advanced bot behavior, fixing various bugs or balancing the difficulty of the Horde mode.

The good news is that Thanks to expanded support for bots in Deathmatch, it is now possible to play on all maps of the original game campaign only in the company with artificial intelligence.. Modders should be pleased with the improved modding support, led by the release of the QuakeC source code. This includes the base game, Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity data discs, and MachineGames’ Dimension of the Machine expansion, which is also only available in last year’s enhanced version of the classic shooter.
