After a series of good videos focusing on the atmosphere of the sci-fi world, we finally get a full-fledged gameplay demo of the ambitious space RPG. Exodus from Archetype Entertainment. The spiritual successor to Mass Effect from former BioWare employees looks promising.
Since its initial announcement, Exodus has been compared to the Mass Effect series. The gameplay trailer confirms that these parallels are not accidental. Exodus combines fast-paced third-person action with exploration of space bases, ruins of ancient civilizations, spaceships and exotic planets..
In addition to firearms, the main character uses Celestial technology, reminiscent of the famous biotics from Mass Effect. The trailer also showcases stealth, silent takedowns, and intense close-quarters combat, including the traditional evasive roll.
It’s a shame that we still don’t know when Exodus will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Archetype Entertainment was founded by James Olen, a former lead designer at BioWare who worked on games like Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age: Origins. Other veterans are also involved in the development of the game, such as Drew Karpyshyn, the writer of the first two Mass Effect games, and Chad Robertson, the former head of technology at BioWare. Archetype Entertainment is part of Wizards of the Coast, best known for its Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering brands.
