December Games: review and survey

November was marked mainly by the arrival of the expected event STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl from the GSC Game World studio, which certainly did not disappoint in terms of gaming experience at its core. However, its reputation is currently undermined mainly by inconsistent optimization and technical problems.

Other November games include action-adventure Lego Horizon Adventures, turn-based RPG Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood or Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, but like the aforementioned Stalker, it struggles with technical difficulties.

Looking at the December game offering, it is clear that the main focus will be on action. Indiana Jones and the Big Circle from the MachineGames studio, famous for its modern works in the Wolfenstein series. But fans of devil games waiting for Path of Exile 2 will also get their money’s worth.

Also worth mentioning are the VR project Alien: Rogue Incursion and several ambitious free-to-play games, most notably the shooter Delta Force, the action game Marvel Rivals and the football game UFL.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 – Greece

At the beginning of the month, attention will be drawn to the timeless Euro Truck Simulator 2, which will receive another map expansion. This time the player will go to Greece.

Developers from the Czech studio SCS Software are attracted by the detailed land part of this country, led by the capital Athens, as well as the presence of several islands to which you can cross using ferries.

Delta Force

The first of several free games planned for December will be the Delta Force event. It will first go through the Early Access program, where only the multiplayer portion of it will be available.

However, in the future, the developers from the Team Jade studio are planning a traditional single-player campaign based on the film “Black Hawk Down.” As for the multiplayer game, players can expect traditional PvP modes in the style of the Call of Duty or Battlefield series.

UFL

• Platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox series X/S

The football gaming genre has long been dominated by Electronic Arts’ EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA) series. The dominance of this brand will try to be disrupted by a new product from the Cypriot studio Strikerz called UFL.

The focus on the free-to-play model and the availability of selected licenses should help the game reach a larger group of players. The console version, due out in December, will be followed by a recently announced PC port next year.

Marvel Rivals

Chinese company NetEase Games will also try to compete for the favor of players with its own free-to-play initiative, which will release the superhero event Marvel Rivals. The genre will be a third-person multiplayer action game, in which two teams of six players will compete.

Prim will be played by famous characters from the Marvel universe with unique abilities. Playable characters will include Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Loki or Rocket.

Path of Exile 2

• Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S
• Release date: December 6 (early access)

• Price: 28 euros

Already in the first week of December, fans of devil girls will also be rewarded, as they will be able to start playing Path of Exile 2. And in this case, the authors from the Grinding Gear Games studio have chosen the path of paid early access, which will be available on PC and consoles.

However, the full version of the game will be available for free, following the example of the first part. However, as part of Early Access, the game boasts the first three acts of the campaign, six playable classes, five dozen bosses, and four hundred different enemies.

Indiana Jones and the Big Circle

The latest AAA game of the year will be Indiana Jones and the Great Circle from Bethesda and MachineGames. This Swedish team moved into Indiana Jones after several installments in the Wolfenstein series, from which the Indiana Jones game is based in some areas.

In terms of gameplay, the developers focused primarily on stealth, eliminating enemies using the brand’s signature whip, and solving logic puzzles. However, the title should not lag behind the plot and the places you will visit as a famous archaeologist.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2, remastered versions

Specialists in remakes of old games from the Aspyr studio will bring another brand to modern platforms. This time it will be a collection of games Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, released in 1999 and 2001 by the famous studio Crystal Dynamics. The genre is an action-adventure with a vampire theme, telling the story of the epic battle between Kain and Raziel.

Alien: Rogue Invasion

Even fans of virtual reality will not be deprived of an interesting game in December. After the November game Metro Awakening, this time they will see the horror action game Alien: Rogue Incursion, behind which are the developers from the Survios studio. They invite you into an atmospheric single-player game in which you, in the role of Marine Zula Hendricks, await a confrontation with the infamous invaders.
