SteamDB, which tracks game updates on Steam, has made new changes to seven Activision games that were discontinued seven years ago due to expired licenses. These include Deadpool, three Transformers games, both Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
According to SteamDB entries, the changes occurred on November 14, 2024. Each of these games received a new screenshot, which is very strange since their Steam pages are not public. The question arises: why were new images added? And who are they even for if the games remain inaccessible?
List of all updated games:
- Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
- Transformers: War for Cybertron
- Transformers: Destruction
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2
- Dead Pool
- Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
The first thought that naturally comes to mind for fans is the possibility of these games coming back into retail. For example, Deadpool is in high demand, especially thanks to the recent film. Deadpool and Wolverinewhich caused a new wave of interest in both the character and the old games. The proof is in the form of physical copies of the Xbox 360 version of the game, which have begun selling for high prices on eBay in recent months.
Of course, it is possible that these changes do not mean anything revolutionary. This may only be for internal maintenance or updating records for archival purposes. Activision has yet to provide any official word on what the updates mean or whether the games will return to digital shelves.
Fans continue to hope for a return. However, the question remains whether the games will return in their original form or receive a remaster or other improvements.
