Publisher 505 Games made a mistake during development Control from 2019 and after its completion a number of damages. These include an agreement with Sony to provide exclusive content only for PlayStation 4 owners. This would not be anything special, but in this case, no one ever intended that the exclusivity would only last for a limited time. Additionally, it was still limited to the original PS4 version, which was the digital Deluxe Edition, so if you bought Control in any other version on PS4 or later PS5, you still won’t receive any exclusive content.. However, next year the situation may finally change.
Developers from the Finnish studio Remedy announced on the occasion of an event called Capital Markets Day 2024 that Control will receive a free version within the next year. an update that unlocks previously released content. It seems that now that they own all the rights to the Control brand, the studio intends to correct the old mistakes made by the original publisher. Either the agreement with Sony was only temporary and expires in 2025.
