Studio Pocket pair it already knows what patents it had according to Nintendo violate. The Japanese giant sued the authors of the hit Palmyre in September, but at the time it was unclear what exactly was being discussed. Patents cover specific game mechanics.

Pocketpair names three patents that Nintendo accuses it of violating. Two of them are dedicated to the system of catching “characters” in a “ball”, i.e. Pokemon in pokeballs, respectively, buddies in pal-spheres. The third patent describes a method of “riding on an object” and “moving in a virtual environment.”

The patent describes in detail, for example, throwing a ball.

We will also find out the amount Nintendo is asking for. He wants to compensate a total of 10 million yen (about 61 thousand euros, or 1.5 million crowns), equally divided between Nintendo itself and The Pokémon Company. Pocketpair adds that there is no change in its approach: “We will continue to defend our position on this issue in future litigation.”

Attention Nintendo attracted Palmyre also because of the striking resemblance of the central Pals to the famous Pokemon. However, it will be much more difficult to legally challenge the appearance of the Pal.
