Microsoft For the first quarter of fiscal 2025, Xbox Content & Services reported year-over-year sales growth of 61%. This is largely due to the acquisition King of Blizzard by Activisionwhich contributed to this by 53%. In contrast, equipment sales recorded a decline of 29%.
The American company sells fewer consoles, but succeeds in the content and services segment. This was to be expected after collaborating with the publisher of Call of Duty. Likewise, analysts expected interest in Xbox consoles to decline when the tech giant began releasing its games on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles.
In July, August and September, the Xbox division recorded Sales increase by 43% year on year. Activision Blizzard King contributed 43%. Microsoft’s overall revenue for the period reached $65.6 billion, up 16% from the same period last year. Net profit rose 11% to $24.7 billion.
The next quarter will be even better. October Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 boasts the most successful launch in the history of the series. Compared to last year’s Modern Warfare 3, sales on PlayStation and Steam increased by 60%. Call of Duty social media reports that Black Ops 6 is claiming the most players, most hours played, and most matches in its first three days.
