Blizzard brings technologically advanced games to the gaming world that can impress not only with gameplay but also with performance. How do Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 run on Zing PCs and what role does NVIDIA technology play in this?
Blizzard has long earned a reputation as a development studio that creates gaming masterpieces with precise optimization and high technical quality. Whether it’s an RPG series or a competitive title, their games always run smoothly on a variety of hardware builds. In today’s article, I’ll look at the performance of the Zing PC in combination with the latest version of Diablo and the heroic Overwatch 2. Both games support modern NVIDIA technologies: Diablo also uses ray tracing, while Overwatch 2 emphasizes responsiveness and performance. . Should you enable DLSS even in online games or do most players prefer higher frame rates over graphics?
Overwatch 2
In any online PvP event, you not only need high FPS, but also minimal latency and perfect system response. This is why many developers don’t use technologies like DLSS in their games, as they add a small amount of latency caused by extra rendering steps. NVIDIA knew this and added NVIDIA Reflex technology to reduce these lags. So, in Overwatch 2, next to DLSS we can find Reflex, which provides the fastest possible response.
It’s clear that Blizzard included DLSS Super Resolution here primarily as a tool for players on weaker machines, with no intention of significantly improving the visuals – the lack of DLAA that would otherwise accompany DLSS bears that out. Although Reflex minimizes latency, it is impossible to completely eliminate the increase in response speed when DLSS is enabled. According to NVIDIA’s app metrics, the latency increase in Quality mode was up to 10ms during the largest fights, but it wasn’t bothersome in any way.
Test results show that the game runs very smoothly even without DLSS. When using DLSS Quality, frame rates ranged from 230-280 fps, and in Balanced mode it was 230-295 fps. In Performance and Ultra Performance modes, FPS safely exceeded 300, with minimal visual differences thanks to the game’s art style. In conclusion, online PvP games like Overwatch 2 benefit little from DLSS – most players will choose lower graphics detail or even minimal graphics settings for maximum FPS. On the other hand, I definitely recommend turning on NVIDIA Reflex as it reduces the responsiveness of the system without having a negative impact on the game.
For comprehensive testing of NVIDIA Reflex, it is ideal to have a G-Sync monitor with Reflex hardware support and a compatible mouse. If you’re interested in Reflex, I recommend a more in-depth article from a colleague at PCTuning that goes into more detail about this technology.
Diablo IV
Although the launch of Diablo IV was met with some negative reviews, the game quickly gained popularity and continued the success of Diablo III. This part has significantly improved graphics and added a number of innovations that have taken the gameplay to a new level. Graphically, Diablo IV is impressive, especially highlighted by detailed shadows and reflections thanks to ray tracing. I remember the days of Diablo III when mass attacks on my old FPS laptop would fall to the bottom of an imaginary hole after a fallen star, significantly limiting the gameplay.
However, Diablo IV uses advanced NVIDIA technology to ensure smooth visuals and rich detail. I tested the game at 1440p with Ultra settings, in DLAA mode the game reached 150 FPS, with DLSS Quality the game was able to reach 230 FPS, and Balanced reached 230 FPS during combat scenes, which is an excellent result. Although the Performance and Ultra Performance modes added more FPS, annoying flickering on vegetation and reflections in puddles began to appear, which was very distracting.
If you prefer the best visual experience, I recommend turning on ray tracing. Diablo IV offers three levels: the top two really add atmosphere, but the lowest level is not so noticeable. However, beauty is paid for by a drop in FPS: in DLAA mode, FPS drops to 75-80, and with large groups of enemies it can drop even lower. With ray tracing at an average level, FPS remains about 100. In DLSS Quality mode, the game reaches 100-130 FPS and the balance is about the same. In fact, no matter what DLSS quality I set, with ray tracing enabled, the FPS remained the same, only the image became worse.
