Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will also receive similar improvements.
The release of the PS5 Pro is slowly approaching, and with it comes patches for games that will receive certain improvements on the new console. Among them are games from Insomniac, the extremely prolific studio of this generation within PlayStation Studios, which in three years brought us games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Spider-Man 2. These are the last two games to receive relatively major improvements, and with the PS5 Pro patch already out, along with the patch notes, we can see what the developers have in store.
First of all, this is the mode Productivity Prowhich we have known about for some time. In both games it replaces the Performance mode with ray tracing, keeping its settings, but thanks to PSSR upscaling it focuses on image quality in Fidelity mode.of course in 60fps. This mode will be installed by default on PS5 Pro.
However, in the end, Insomniac prepared another mode for both games that we still didn’t know about, and that’s all. Loyalty Proin which new RT effects await you. Ratchet has them. best reflections (full resolution instead of half) with smoother animation, but also Ambient occlusion RTappeared last year in the PC version. There will be more in Spider-Man 2 “Shadows RT Key Light”which should cover shadows coming from sunlight and thus replace the current solution of cascading shadow maps.
The big trade-off, of course, is frame rate, since Fidelity Pro is primarily aimed at 30fpshowever, thanks to the wide range of settings, you are not necessarily limited to this value. If you have a display device with a refresh rate 120 Hzthe game will be aimed 40 fpsand if your display supports it VRRyou can to fully unlock the frame rate. In addition, the developers allowed themselves edit individual ray tracing settingsso you can make a trade-off between frame rate and amount of RT effects.
