Nintendo has apparently found a new partner after the demise of AlphaDream.
RPG Mario & Luigi: Brothership is just a few weeks away, likely Nintendo’s last major game of the year. However, as with previous games, the Japanese company is reluctant to reveal the studio behind the title. And although the demo version that hacked Princess Peach: Showtime, for example, did not work for Brotherhood, information about the developers still came to light.
It was shared on Twitter by the Nintendodeal account via a screenshot of the intellectual property information. At the very beginning it is written that the author of the software is Nintendo and Acquire. The latter studio was purchased this year by Kadokawa (parent company of FromSoftware) and is behind a whole series of games, but you’ll know them best from the first and second parts of the pixelated RPG Octopath Traveler, which was created in collaboration with Square Enix.
The Mario & Luigi series was originally developed by AlphaDream, which went bankrupt in 2019. So, it seems that it was in Acquire that Nintendo found a new partner and revived the brand.
Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood will release on November 7th on Nintendo Switch. We’re already playing the game and will bring you a review as soon as the embargo is lifted.
