A number of classic ’90s first-person shooters that originally released on PC looked a little – or completely – different when they were later released on consoles. This is because console ports were often handled by external development teams who had to modify, replace, or cut certain things in order for the game to run properly on other hardware. Thus often had a completely different experience. That is why the fact that it is thanks to the improved edition of the shooters Quake and Quake 2 from Nightdive Studios, id Software, MachineGames and Bethesda Softworks, the all-game port for the Nintendo 64 is considered a major milestone. AND now it’s Quake 2 for the first PlayStation.
Quake for Nintendo 64 can be launched thanks to the mod browser available in the main menu of the so-called Enhanced edition of 2021, while the port of the second part for the classic Nintendo console was built directly into last year’s Enhanced edition. Originally developed by HammerHead Studio, Quake 2 for the original PlayStation is now available as more or less a community modification intended only for the PC version and which you can download from the ModDB website. We specifically say “more or less” because the mod is actually signed by one of the Nightdive Studios employees under the nickname Paril.
