Creative director Jacques-Belletette spoke.
Soon after the first gameplay trailer, the studio’s authors arrive. Rogue Factor with a fifteen-minute gameplay demo of his upcoming sci-fi action-adventure film. Hell is us. Supplemented by comments from the creative director and art director. Jonathan Jacques-Bellete.
The developer places a lot of emphasis on exploration, as has been the case until now. He reiterates that the game won’t lead the player by the hand, so there won’t be any virtual maps or on-screen pointers. Everything should be guided by information from other characters and the player’s intuition.
The main character of the game is Remy, a man who was born in a central country torn apart by civil war between two races, but grew up outside of it. Now he returns to meet his family, whom he was never given the opportunity to know. “Remy remembers two things. He knows that his home village is called Iova and his father was a blacksmith there,” describes Jacques-Belletette.
Gameplay will be split evenly between exploration and action. It will focus on close combat, and the authors have prepared a number of weapons and abilities. Some of the game’s creative director describes them as magic, although there is a scientific explanation for them in the plot. In battle, the player will also have access to the Cappy drone, which can, for example, lure the enemy. The authors remind us that their game is not like the soul, it should not be too simple or too complex.
Last but not least, Jacques-Belletet takes you into the dungeons, which he doesn’t tell much about. Of course, we should not just talk about the environment from the point of view of the main historical character, but about a truly ancient one. We will explore “history before history.” There will be puzzles in the dungeons, which are also based on the principle of not handing the solution to the player on a silver platter.
Hell is Us will be released next year PC and consoles PlayStation 5 And Xbox series.
