The development is said to be led by the producer of the Far Cry series.
Renowned gaming journalist Jason Schreier visited the IGN Unlocked podcast, where he first talked about his new book, Play It Beautiful: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment. Of course, we were talking about various Blizzard projects and the situation in the studio itself.
The mention of the upcoming sequel to the Starcraft series has perhaps attracted the most attention. Schreier said his sources say Blizzard is currently working on a spinoff for the brand. Instead of strategy, it should be about first person shooter.
The project will be led by Dan Hay, who in the past participated in several parts of the Far Cry series. According to Schreier, development will continue despite the recent layoffs that have hit Activision Blizzard. But the traditionally informed journalist added in one breath that he Project development is still at an early stageso there’s a relatively small team working on it.
Thus, we are undoubtedly still several years away from a possible release. So fans of the brand will have to make do with existing spare partswhich, coincidentally, will soon be part of the Xbox/PC Game Pass subscription.
