The controversial expansion is to blame.

Strategy fans got what they wanted this week The return of the Age of Mythology series as a full-fledged remake with the nickname Retold. The game itself was well received by both professional and user reviews, as evidenced by the rating of 83% on Metacritic and 91% on Steam.

However, a separately sold pack called Legacy Deity Portrait has become a thorn in the side of some players. For €6, it offers the opportunity to take advantage of the iconic portraits of gods from the original version of the game. Users in reviews complain that they don’t see the point in paying extra for a few old images from the original game.

Some even mention that we are talking about one of the most pointless DLCsthat they had ever encountered. Looking at the 17% rating of this add-on on Steam, it is clear that this type of additional content was not entirely to the liking of the creators.

Age of Mythology: Retold is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox/PC Game Pass. You can find more details about the game itself in our review.
