This is not an easy decision at all.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the best-selling games of all time, not only because of its quality story and open world, but also because of the choice of the main character. Arthur Morgan is a strong character, brilliantly portrayed by the voice of John Marston, whose voice has the ability to captivate. He recently spoke about how he imagined the “end” of his character’s journey, whose story has several endings. In the finale, Arthur has a choice between family and money.
John Marston currently considers the moral choice to be the canon ending. He commented on the reasoning behind his decision as follows: “There’s a high honor version and a low honor version where Arthur is going to help John, and a high honor version and a low honor version where he goes back for the money. I never saw the point of you going back for the money. Arthur’s days are numbered, what good is the money going to do him? He’s better off helping John. So I think going back to help John with great honor is the canon ending for me.”
In short, Marston sees his protégé as a hero who follows logic and a moral code. Whether he will get another chance in Red Dead Redemption 3 remains to be seen. Rockstar’s current priority is GTA 6, which is due out in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
