Remasters. A great way to get back to your favorite childhood games, only with a modern twist. Either that, or a great way to squeeze every last penny out of a game that a brand can produce. And today we’re going to look at exactly those remasters that no one asked for.
Today, Deadpool is at the peak of his career, and it’s no wonder. Cinemas are full of people wanting to see the third full-length film with this comic antihero. But few remember its 2013 game adaptation, created by High Moon Studios and published by none other than Activision. This daring undertaking received rather mixed reviews; despite the great humor so typical of Deadpool, it, unfortunately, did not make much of an impression in terms of the gameplay itself. But the biggest blow came a year later, when Activision lost the license for Marvel films and was forced to withdraw all games from sale, including Deadpool.
But wonder of the world, it was released again in 2015. And this time in an updated form. Where Activision got the rights is still a mystery. Most likely, it was due to a promotion for the upcoming 2016 film. Deadpool made a rather pointless return… only to lose the license again two years later and disappear from the shelves again.
