The new video game in the famous universe tries to depict a unique but credible world that every fan of the famous saga will recognize. And in it, it wants to offer you exciting and funny situations that you will have to solve in the vividly exposed scenery of the criminal world. And although it succeeds, it fails in the most fundamental aspect that makes a game a game: gameplay. Star Wars Outlaws is a game from Massive Entertainment under the control of Ubisoft, and as such, it is another of many adventure games that follow a common template. And that is indeed true of it.

Star Wars: Outlaws is An adventure game set in an open world. On just five planets, you’ll have to infiltrate enemy bases, destroy them with an upgraded blaster, and navigate through the ruins left by war. The action of “Criminals” takes place between the fifth and sixth episodes of the film saga, and while the Empire is trying to maintain its position, the Rebels want to prevent this. In the rest of the world, where the police are not so carefully controlled, there is a rise in criminal syndicates.

This is the world in which the protagonist of the story, Kay Vess, finds herself. And here comes one of the problems with the title. At its core, there would be nothing wrong with a story about an ambitious heroine trying to make it in a criminal underworld full of traitors and murderers. But the game is much more tells the story of the world around us better than the main characters themselves. Most of the time it’s pretty straightforward and boring, especially since Kay Vess is the least interesting character in her own story. The solution I the dialogues that the heroine has just seem confusing and stupid and it is very difficult to sympathize with her.
