In velvet 89 We will uncover the stories of ordinary people who contributed to the fall of the communist regime. We will look at four cities and five demonstrations that triggered the Velvet Revolution.

Velvet 89 will be called hidden object title. In it, we will look for those who want to tell us why they decided to speak out and oppose the communist regime in a crowded square. But to find them in the crowd, we will have to be attentive – noticing the color of their clothes, hairstyles or details of their surroundings.

“Velvet 89 takes you on a journey through a troubled country, from the environmental protests in northern Bohemia to the moments immediately preceding the intervention at Narodni Trid to the general strike in Ostrava.” The press release beckons. We will look at familiar places with new eyes and explore those that are often forgotten in the history of the Velvet Revolution.. The game was created in collaboration with experts from the Stories of Injustice project. Each sentence and story is based on eyewitness accounts of the events of that time.

“Prague, Ostrava or Teplice are coming back to life in a graphic style reminiscent of paper cutouts, old videotapes and old photo albums. They are complemented by authentic historical footage straight from the revolutionary days.” adds a caption that mentions over 40 stories.

“Velvet 89 highlights the motivation of ordinary people who took to the streets in 1989 – not only students or actors, but also saleswomen, workers, teachers,” explains Ondřej Trgon from Charles Games. “We are fans of hidden object games like Hidden Folks or Krispy Street ourselves, and we wanted to use this fun mechanic as a the opportunity for players to literally walk through our historyí, including stories that are often forgotten,” stocks.
