It is estimated that Microsoft’s new generation of Xbox consoles will gradually catch up with the PlayStation 5, which had a good week in the UK. The Nintendo Switch continues to thrive, capitalizing on the scarcity of new hardware.

Sony had a very successful week in the UK. The company managed to bring new PS5 consoles to the local market, which immediately affected the list of best-selling games. for example Gran Turismo 7 recorded a 163% increase in sales compared to two weeks earlier and took second place. Forbidden horizon west increased physical sales by 307% and ranks third.

Analysts note that Sony has added more PlayStation 5 consoles to UK stores, with new owners immediately buying several games for the new hardware. As a result, the rating of last week looks like this:

  1. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
  2. Gran Turismo 7
  3. Forbidden horizon west
  4. FIFA 22
  5. Pokémon Legends: Arceus
  6. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
  7. Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  8. ancient ring
  9. Grand Theft Auto 5
  10. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

But other things may be troubling Japanese society. According to the VGChartz server The new generation of Xbox is gradually catching up with PS5. In the week ending April 9, 2022, 173,812 Xbox Series X/S units were due to be sold, bringing the total sales to 14.4 million. The PS5 was supposed to have sold approximately 144,833 units for a total of 18.85 million units sold.

Nintendo Switch continues to dominate. It sold 308,829 units per week and an estimated 106.76 million units. PS4 reportedly sold 17,297 units (116,774,214 lifetime) and 1,134 Xbox One (50,522,958 lifetime).

Looking at weekly sales, Switch sales are down over 35,000, Xbox Series X/S sales are down nearly 57,000, and PlayStation 5 sales are down over 41,000.

Keep in mind these are unofficial numbers, and since the Xbox One, Microsoft hasn’t revealed how many consoles have been sold, while Sony says there will be 17.3 million by the end of 2021. So that even two million were not sold in the first quarter of 2022? Somehow it doesn’t work for me.

But it is certain that in March 2022, the Xbox Series X/S was the most successful in the UK. Sales of these consoles are up 61% compared to February, while PS5 sales are up 45%. According to the report, Microsoft delivered more units to the market, while Sony continued to worry about the shortage of consoles produced.
