There is also ray reconstruction and image generation.
The release of the action-adventure Star Wars Outlaws from Massive Entertainment, the studio behind last year’s Avatar and The Division series, is slowly approaching. Publisher Ubisoft, which covers the developers, has now revealed new information about the PC version.
Firstly, the hardware requirements have been officially released, but we have covered them in detail in a separate article before, so I would like to focus on the various features that the game is expected to support. The game is once again powered by the internal Snowdrop engine and, like Avatar, is one of the most technologically advanced games of recent times.
In the new trailer, Ubisoft promises to use ray tracing for global illumination, reflections, and shadows. Nvidia’s RTXDI technology, or RTX Dynamic Illumination, has also been implemented, which enables rendering of a large number of dynamic light sources without the need for manual intervention.
After that, all major upscaling technologies will be available, namely DLSS 3.5 from Nvidia, FSR 3.0 from AMD, and XeSS 1.3 from Intel. Image generation will also be available as part of DLSS and FSR, and DLSS adds Ray Reconstruction technology to this, which cleans up image noise when using ray tracing and often provides sharper reflections than other denoisers.
There will also be support for the 21:9 aspect ratio, or so-called cinematic display mode, and a few more standard features like unlocked frame rates and detailed settings.
Star Wars Outlaws will be released on August 30 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can buy the game on Alza.cz.
