Activision has repeatedly promised developers that AI won’t just replace them. However, according to news from Wired, it appears that despite all the assurances, the company has broken its promises and has actually been using AI to create content that it then shamelessly sells to customers without them knowing it was an AI creation. According to Wired, one of the decks created this way was Yokai’s Wrath. It cost the player 1,500 in-game currency and was supposed to contain AI-generated elements. However, it is unclear how much of this paid package was actually created by AI.

The reason Activision took this step, according to an anonymous source, is that it fired a large percentage of 2D creators and forced the rest to work with AI to fill the space left by the fired creators. However, the AI problem is not just about graphics, as the protest of game actors shows. As for the Yokai’s Wrath pack, it was released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which can be found on PC, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox.
