French Ubisoft solves the problem lately. Experienced developers, dissatisfied with the company’s creative direction (among other things, the same pattern of games and NFTs) and worried about fixing bugs in the workplace, are fleeing the Canadian company. They also crave new challenges elsewhere (several new teams have appeared in Canada) or complain about low salaries.

He attributes the last departure Patrick Plourdwho worked at Ubisoft for almost 20 years. He was head of development Child of Light and creative director watchdogs 2, Far Cry 3 and Rainbow Six Vegas. Now he wants to relax and start an independent company that will focus on creative consulting.

“R6 Vegas, AC, FC3, CoL, WD2… It’s been an honor to work with everyone at Ubi on these great games!” — wrote Plourde on Twitter.

“I am setting up an independent creative consulting company where I will continue to work with Ubisoft and also spend time on some personal projects.” he added that he also wanted to focus on non-gaming areas without asking permission from his employer.

Ubisoft confirmed his departure, adding that Plowder had been asked by some CFOs to collaborate on unspecified projects.

It is estimated that at least 60 experienced developers have left Ubisoft’s Canadian studios in the six months to December 2021.
