In September 2021, Ubisoft officially announced that it was working on a TV series based on the video game series in collaboration with streaming service Binge. DriverAt the time, fans were begging for the game itself to return. Today, the series is on hiatus, but something is still being created.
“We are no longer working with Binge on the Driver series.” said a Ubisoft representative for the Game File server. “We are actively working on other exciting projects related to this series. We look forward to sharing more information in the future.” he added.
The series had to be played out in its entirety and follow the story of John Tannera former race car driver who, as an undercover agent, had to infiltrate a dangerous crime syndicate.
The last big Driver game was released in 2011 under the name Driver: San Francisco and it wasn’t that bad. She was especially impressive in her transformation into the drivers of nearby cars in a traffic jam, because we were playing for the main character, who was in a coma.
The Driver series is one of the first open-world racing games, so we hope it will return one day in a full-fledged title for PC and consoles. Ubisoft could do a great job of embracing the racing genre, with The Crew being more suited to off-road environments and Driver being more suited to the city.
