Today at 18:00 our time, the ninth addon for the cult MMORPG World of Warcraft was announced, this time with the subtitle Dragonflight. Together with the dragon squads of Azeroth, we went to the new continent of the Dragon Isles to help them defend their homeland. Poisons are full of elemental magic and the living energy of Azeroth, a world we have traveled for eighteen years. We have a relatively large number of changes ahead of us, and we in the newsroom are really curious if a previously popular title can restore the already almost lost glory.
Combination of race and profession
For the first time in the history of WoWka, developers offer us a combination of a new playable race and profession. This is the Draktir Spellcaster, who, like the Worgen, can choose between a humanoid appearance and a more primitive draconian form. Evoker will be available to both Alliance and Horde. A specially crafted game intro will be available for life with the new character. The summoner has two specializations – Ravage and Preserve. While the former focuses on a combination of fire spells and sharp claw attacks, the latter uses life magic to heal comrades. So the Evoker is both a DPS and a healer.
Dragon rider is light and fast
The new system on the Dragonflige data disc is the opportunity to become a dragon rider. While traveling through the Dragon Isles, you will be able to get four unique and customizable dragons (which the creators are putting a lot of emphasis on). There will likely be millions of combinations available. With the help of new aviation techniques, it will be possible to gradually hone your riding skills. Over time, as players, we will improve, and gravity along with stamina will become less and less of an issue. At the maximum level, it will be possible to collect the so-called ancient glyphs and thus improve the dragon’s talent tree. Endgame content is also prepared for this system, which will open up other editing possibilities. On paper, this sounds like a solid diversification, but let’s see how things really are.
To a new continent
The Dragon Isles are the ancient home of Azeroth’s dragon warbands. During an event called The Great Sundering, magic disappeared from the islands and the dragon continent fell asleep. And this, along with old grievances and threats. The first zone is the Waking Shores. In the role of heroes, at the invitation of Alexstrasza herself, we will try to help Wrathion retake the citadel of the Black Squadron from the clutches of the enemy. The Onahran plains are traversed by mighty Maruuk centaurs, old friends of the Green Squadron. But after Ysera’s death, the future is uncertain. In Azure Span we find the archives of the Blue Squadron. The area stretches from Tuskarr villages through forest-tundra to snow-capped peaks. Tribes of gnolls and furbolgs have lived here since time immemorial. Taldrasus is a favorite haunt of the Aspects and their squadrons. It rises like a shining beacon in the midst of the realm of dragons. The bronze squadron plays a big role here, watching the passage of time. The last zone is the Forbidden Limit. At this point, Neltharion was training his elite warriors, Draktir. However, after the great battle, the area was abandoned and now, after the return of the enemy, it comes to life again.
Classics, Changes and Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
As usual, a new data disc will raise the max level. This time the level will increase from sixty to seventy. The talent and profession systems have been updated (they should be much more important). The user interface in Dragonflight has a new look. There was a time, but I think that most players use the so-called addons and customize the look. New dungeons and raids are a matter of course. At the moment, the following is known: Neltarus is the fortress of the Black Squadron, we will visit the previously unexplored chambers of Uldaman and protect the so-called Pools of Life, which belong to the Red Squadron.
As a longtime World of Warcraft player, I have to say that I absolutely disliked the introduction of the new data disc. The expansion trailer was completely “lean, unsalted”, new race uninteresting and new generic locations. The only thing that interests me is the dragon upgrade system. “WoW” is suffocating and it can be seen at every step. But maybe I’m wrong and the data disk will work. But for now it leaves me completely cold. No release date has been announced, but Dragonflight is not expected to see the light of day until winter 2022. Wrath of The Lich King Classic was announced alongside the announcement of the new expansion. It should be released later this year.
