Among other things, the expected soul like Black Myth: Wukong from the Chinese studio Game Science appeared at the Summer Game Fest. We were able to try it out last year at Gamescom and had very positive impressions. A lot of new information has come with the new trailer, but not all of it is positive.
And this is where I would start, because the developers have announced the unpleasant news that the release of the Xbox version of the game is delayed. The FAQ section on the official website states the following: “We are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X|S versions to our standards, so they will not be released alongside other platforms. We apologize for the inconvenience and promise.” announce the date as soon as possible. Let me remind you that for PC and PlayStation 5 the previously announced date still applies, that is, August 20 this year.
This isn’t the first game to encounter problems on Xbox, and while the developers haven’t explicitly mentioned it, it’s probably not hard to guess that the Xbox Series S was probably to blame for having to delay the release of the Xbox version. for several months. The problem isn’t so much the CPU or GPU performance, but mainly the small memory, which is 10 GB compared to 16 for the PS5 and XSX. For some games, ensuring that the game runs on XSS can be quite difficult. Thomas Puha from Remedy has already talked about this, and recently Martin Klima from Warhorse also mentioned the restrictions.
Anyway, now on to some more positive information. Pre-orders have been launched for both digital and physical versions. In addition to the base edition, there is also a Digital Deluxe with the soundtrack and several additional items. There will also be a physical Deluxe Edition that includes steelbook, various charms and silkscreens. The highest collector’s edition then adds a figurine of the main character to all this. In any case, the physical version does not come with a game disc, you just receive a digital activation code.
Finally, the hardware requirements were presented. The minimums are not high at all; for medium settings in Full HD you will need a GTX 1060 or RX 580, 16 GB of RAM and an older Ryzen 5 or Core i5. Conversely, on the other side of the spectrum, if you want to game with high detail and maximum ray tracing settings in 4K, you will need to prepare an RTX 4080 Super card (very similar in performance to the classic 4080), 32GB of memory. RAM and Ryzen 5 5500 or Core i7-9700. As for disk space, you must have at least 130 GB free. HDD is also mentioned in the minimum requirements, but SSD is highly recommended and is required for all other presets.
But there are two problems that taint the claims a bit. On the one hand, outside the table it is stated that the mentioned resolutions were achieved using DLSS/FSR/XeSS upscaling, while the developers do not mention what settings they used. So we don’t know, for example, whether they upscaled to 4K from 1440p or maybe from 1080p. An even bigger problem is the lack of FPS, so it’s not clear from the table whether the game will run at 60fps on these configurations, or maybe only at 30. Hopefully the developers will clarify this in the future.
