Gamers unfamiliar with the story of the six-year-old first game shouldn’t worry about Warhorse Studios’ sequel to the medieval RPG. The team, led by Dan Wavre and Martin Klima, emphasized that the story Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 it was written to prevent players unfamiliar with the story from feeling lost.
Related to this is the choice made in the first act of the story. Jindřich of Skalice. The developers will allow us to collect the past of the main character in our own way. It will not be in the form of text windows before the game starts (Dragon Age 2 and Pillars of Eternity 2 style). Instead, the creators opted for a more natural approach. During the story campaign, the inhabitants of Kutná Hora will ask us various questions, and we will determine who Jindřich was and is. Besides this style fits into medieval realitieswhen news traveled much more slowly than it does today.
“At the end of Kingdom Come Deliverance, Jindřich became famous and important in his native region, which is not so important on the scale of all of Bohemia,” Chief designer Prokop Jirsa explains the situation in an interview with PCGamesN. In Kutná Hora, where most of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 takes place, no one knows him. Naturally, people will ask him where he is from, who he is, what he did for a living… From these and other answers, Jindřich’s past will be created. Some elements are canonical, but they say that we will have many options.
Importing saved positions from the first part will not be supported. New players who don’t know the plot, oh the most important events from the past they will learn gradually through cutscenes, dialogues and notes in the open world. As such, the developers of Prague’s Warhorse have learned from the mistakes of other RPGs and don’t want to bore players from the start or load them with everything at once.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is scheduled to release this year for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It will be on all platforms Czech dubbing and Czech subtitles.. We’ll see a new video on Friday night during Summer Game Fest.
