It’s been two years since Ubisoft removed it. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Indian research in Mumbai and Pune and entrusted the development to an experienced team Ubisoft Montreal, where Princes of Persia worked from 2003 to 2010. Since then we have been assured several times that work is still ongoing. This just confirms it Ubisoft Toronto.
The second veteran Canadian studio of the French company boasted on social networks that it was participating in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. To a new version of your favorite classic they will bring creativity, experience and technology.
For us players, this should mean that development is in full swing. Although Toronto will likely focus mainly on Splinter Cell remake. Previously, they played an important role in the creation of games belonging to the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs and For Honor series.
Sharing projects is not something unusual at Ubisoft. For example, Ubisoft Quebec is working on Assassin’s Creed Shadows in collaboration with 15 other studios from around the world, including Toronto and Montreal.
Let’s remember: The remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was presented at the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year, but instead of delight it attracted criticism for its graphics and animation. In December of that year, the release was delayed by two months to give the developers the time needed to meet fan expectations. But it was clear to everyone that two months was not enough time for a “unique visual treatment,” as Ubisoft called it. This too was confirmed, and after several more delays, in May 2022 we learned that the troubled project was moving from India to Canada, where, apparently, they were supposed to start from scratch.
