Last December, after a number of speculations and leaks, the sixth installment in the Grand Theft Auto series was officially announced. The introductory trailer was recently updated with information that the game should be released in the fall of 2025. At the announcement, Rockstar also announced that the game will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. However, there has still been no word about a possible PC version. The head of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, himself raised the situation around a possible port for computers.
At the TD Cowen conference he said that Rockstar stays true to platform strategysomething he had already practiced in the past. Any further platform announcements must come at the right time, he said. Here Zelnick is likely referring to Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, which first came out on consoles but eventually found their way onto PC. The Take-Two boss noted that over time, the company has always reached out to its consumers on all platforms where it makes sense.
While we certainly can’t take statements like these as confirmation of a PC version, it’s clear that both Take-Two and Rockstart are staying true to the strategy that proved successful in the old collaborations between Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead. Series “Redemption”. So it’s likely that GTA 6 will end up eventually it will actually come out on PC. However, the question remains how far ahead of the console versions they will receive priority. In the case of GTA 5, this was almost two years.
